Dr. Luisa F. Echeto, DDS, MS, FACP
Luisa F. Echeto, DDS, MS, FACP a board-certified prosthodontist, was born in Atlanta, Georgia but grew up in Caracas, Venezuela where she earned her dental degree in 1997 from The Universidad Central de Venezuela. Upon graduation, she worked in private practice for two years before coming back to the United States. She completed her Prosthodontics training and Masters Degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002 followed by a one-year Teaching & Clinical Fellowship. She joined the University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD) in 2003 as a full-time faculty member in the Department of Restorative Dental Sciences, Division of Prosthodontics and completed a 19-year academic career before joining Advanced Dentistry.
She served as the Prosthodontics Division Director and the Predoctoral Prosthodontics Program Director at UFCD. In this role, she supervised more than 14 faculty members. She was in charge of recruiting & calibrating new & current faculty, in charge of faculty assignment & compliance, faculty mentorship & promotion, the predoctoral & postdoctoral prosthodontics programs, the prosthodontics clinical & preclinical curriculum and the laboratory management for all DMD dental students’ cases. The Prosthodontics Faculty Practice and the Maxillofacial Clinic were also under her supervision where she additionally worked as a part-time provider over the years. She also served as Director of Patient Assignment & Screening in charge of selecting and assigning patients to dental students ensuring optimum patient care and a well-rounded clinical experience for the students. She supported the operations of the students’ clinics providing supervision of all prosthodontics procedures and competency examinations within a comprehensive care program.
During her career at UFCD, Dr. Echeto received several teaching awards for “Demonstrated Excellence, Innovation and Effectiveness in Teaching”. She was recipient of the 2009 Florida Dental Association Educator Award and two UF Clinical Sciences Teacher of the Year awards (2012-13 & 2019-20). Additionally, peer faculty members honored her as selected member of the OKU Honorary Society in 2013 and the recipient of the 2017-18 Sustained Exemplary Teaching Award – a college-wide award – in recognition for her accomplishments.
Dr. Echeto is a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) and the American Board of Prosthodontics (ABP) as well as member of The Florida Prosthodontics Association (FPA), The American Dental Education Association (ADEA), The Hispanic Dental Association (HDA) and most recently, the Texas Dental Association (TDA).

She loves Prosthodontics. “The most important thing in life is to love what you do”, she said. “I am inspired by my ability to make a difference in the lives of patients and students. I find a real pleasure in the constant challenges that arise in the execution of treatment plans and working out solutions when working on my own patients or teaching in the clinical environment. Providing the best quality of care to our patients is my primary goal in alignment with the current scientific literature.”
Dr. Echeto met her husband, Rey Echeto, in early 2004 in Gainesville, Florida. They got married in December of the same year. Mr. Echeto is also originally from Venezuela. He works in the horse and cattle industry. They own a Ranch in Anthony, Florida where he has performance quarter horses and operates a horse & cattle export facility. The Echetos were blessed with two children; Reinaldo and Valeria. They enjoy their ranch life, their family and the combination of city life & country life they can experience.
Dr. Echeto is bilingual. She is fluent in English & Spanish. Her hobbies are bakery and crafting. She really enjoys planning and organizing kids’ birthday parties. Her favorite part is decorating the cake!
